It's a Friggen Cup'a Cotton Candy Coffee!
What would you do if you had your very own cotton candy machine?
Most people's answer would probably be to just spin up whatever flavor and design they want to make whenever their sugar craving is on the rise, but recently my wife told me about another super creative and inventive idea one café start several years back that is simply pure genius for marketing and fun.
After she showed me an article from a few years ago with the image shown above in it I was off to the Google to do my research to learn more about it and to share more with all of you about this awesome news.
While it may be old news to some I've never heard anything even remotely like this before, and I had to take some time to make sure I was telling it right.
Who's Doin This Thing?
According to multiple articles and sources I've read during my search for the truth they all point back to one origin; Mellower Coffee in Shanghai China then spreading to all of their locations once it was a success.
The name of this sweet little idea? It's called Sweet Little Rain Coffee.
According to the shop's owner it can be very difficult to create return customers in China due to the vast amount of competition each business has, and to establish a strong business one has to come up with exciting and fun ideas no one has thought of before, and thus the Sweet Little Rain was born.
It's a big puff of cotton candy on a stick over your coffee, which melts into your cup as the hot vapor from the coffee rises up and causes the cotton candy to rain down into your mug.
It creates an exciting, fun, and extremely creative way to have coffee.
Those who have sampled this artistic brew have said its down right delicious, though a bit messy at times, but completely worth it for the experience.
According to the latest report that I've found from Mellower they average a couple hundred cups of Sweet Little Rain per day at their Shanghai location and similar sales at their other sites! That's a high volume of sales for a single item.
Mellower also launched their Mellower Coffee Academy in past years, an super awesome adventure that I completely support, to teach others how to make fine coffee art and creative artistic designs in each cup brewed for their customers.
Mellower sells their bags of coffee in local stores for their flavors, but if you want the Sweet Little Rain you'll have to head into one of their coffee shops or one of their now many partners who have further popularized the drink.
Also after many Google searches I haven't been able to find anyone locatable in the U.S. that sells it, but that doesn't mean anything more than the fact that it hasn't been advertised enough by whatever coffee shops are doing it in America.
I've also tried to find out if Mellower offers different cotton candy flavors on their Sweet Little Rain but it seems that each image or article I find to include Wiki just offers a white base sugar flavor of the fluffy candy cloud.
Whether you're ready to set your business up with multiple cotton candy machines (Which I can't help if you want business class machines.) or if you just want a cotton candy maker for your countertop at home (Which I can help with.) your power to create your very own Sweet Little Rain is within your grasp.
It's super clear that Mellower has had sweet success in this new business endeavor and I hope they hang around the world for a long time bringing about more awesome ideas for coffee drinkers around the world.
Hopefully soon we'll hear about more great inventions from their café too!
Happy sipping my fellow coffee lovers!
